Dr. Steven B. Hollander, 3 Specialties:
1) Good foot care always begins
with conservative care. One of my specialties
is biomechanics, which is the study of motion
in living things. This science is applied to faulty
foot mechanics in the form of special strappings,
shoe gear and orthotics (prescription arch supports)
for conditions such as plantar fasciitis (sometimes
called heel spur syndrome), arthritis, and foot
problems associated with diabetes.
2) I am Board Certified in foot
surgery. When conservative care for foot problems
fails, then surgery may be necessary. I perform
most forefoot operations including bunionectomies,
hammertoes and removal of neuromas. I also perform
selected rearfoot procedures including surgery
for plantar fasciitis and heel spurs.
3) Diabetic patients are subject
to a number of foot problems—neuropathy
(numbness of feet and/or foot pain), breakdown
of joints and infected ulcerations. With the use
of appropriate medical biomechanics and surgical
care, patients with diabetic foot problems can
be brought back to health and then maintained.
